Klopp reveals Joe Gomez timeframe

Gomez’s return timeframe set

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has given an update on Joe Gomez’s return to the team after the defender underwent surgery this week.

Gomez suffered his injury against Burnley back in December.

He wasn’t even expected to be out that long

However, the player suffered a setback recently which hasn’t helped his recovery.

It was then announced earlier this week that he would need surgery on his lower leg fracture.

Liverpool failed to give an indication as to when Gomez could return to training which left a fair bit of confusion as to when he would be back.

Now, Jurgen Klopp has revealed Gomez’s return timeframe.

Not long until Gomez is back

When asked about Gomez in his press conference today, Klopp explained that he could return within the next four to six weeks.

“We’re working on it being four to six weeks,” he explained, as quoted by the Mirror.

Gomez has also been speaking about his injury.

Quoted again by the Mirror, Gomez admitted that it is a hard pill to swallow but it’s just part of football.

“Obviously being out for longer than we’d first hoped for is hard to swallow but it’s part and parcel of the industry,” Gomez explained.

“It was an injury caused by an impact, like nearly all the injuries I’ve had in my career.

“So I know it’s just a case of when it’s fully healed I’m good to go again.

“The hardest part is not being able to help the team and contribute on the pitch at the moment.

“it’s important I come back ready to go and this procedure will help with that.

“My only focus is getting back for Liverpool as soon as possible and I can promise the supporters I’ll be working hard every day to do that.”
